Cambodian agriculture minister sacked

Cambodia’s agriculture minister has been sacked by the government after previously being rebuked for allegedly not being committed enough in his duties.

Veng Sakhon was sacked after Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni issued a royal decree last Saturday following a request from Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Although no reason was given for the sacking in the decree, it is said that it could be related to his alleged failure to deal with the serious flood impact on the country’s farming sector.
