Three Arrested for Drug Trafficking, One for Rape

Military police on Tuesday arrested three men in Banteay Meanchey province’s Poipet City for drug trafficking, weapons possession and using fake money, and one of them for the rape of a minor, a police official said.

Chea Ro, 30; Phorn Chan Ny, 21, and Sieng Hai, 19, were dealing drugs out of a Toyota Camry when they were approached by military police who inspected the vehicle to find a half-kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, 1,600 methamphetamine pills, three samurai-style swords, a K59 pistol and more than $200 worth of counterfeit cash, according to Banteay Meanchey provincial military police commander Or Borin.

“We arrested them while they sat in the car waiting to sell drugs to people,” Mr. Borin said, adding that the three men had eluded authorities for more than a year.

Mr. Borin said that one of the three is also accused of raping a 14-year-old girl on Monday at the Thmor Pech guesthouse in Poipet City.

“All three suspects were there, but only one, Chea Ro, raped her,” he said, adding that   the trio will be sent to the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Court to be charged Wednesday.
