Police Chiefs, Ministry Officials Get New General Stars

Fourteen police officials, including seven provincial police chiefs, were promoted from the rank of brigadier general to major general at a ceremony at the Interior Ministry to promote 56 officers on Wednesday, according to a statement from the ministry.

The statement said that the seven provincial chiefs were Banteay Meanchey’s Ath Khem, Kompong Speu’s Keo Pisey, Pursat’s Sarun Chanthy, Kompong Cham’s Pen Roth, Kandal’s Iv Chamroeun, Takeo’s Ouk Samnang and Battambang’s Sar Thet.

The remaining promotions were awarded to a bevy of departmental directors and deputy directors at the Interior Ministry.

Interior Ministry Undersecretary of State Chhim Chuon and Thim Sopha, the general director of internal audits at the ministry, were also promoted to the rank of four-star general during the ceremony.

In September, the Interior Ministry promoted 119 police officials to become one-, two- and three-star generals.
