UN Assistant Secretary-General Hafiz Pasha arrived Tuesday, and met with Prime Minister Hun Sen at the premier’s home near Independence Monument, officials said
UN Development Program officials did not disclose what the premier and Hafiz discussed. Hafiz said earlier in the day he was not yet aware if he would discuss the Khmer Rouge tribunal issue with any government officials
“I have no schedule yet—I just arrived from Bangkok,” Hafiz said at Pochentong Airport.
Hafiz is scheduled to meet with a number of top government officials, including the ministers of Commerce, Finance and Planning, Minister of Cabinet Sok An and Deputy Prime Minister and co-Minister of Interior Sar Kheng.
Much of his visit will center on development and poverty reduction, one UNDP official said.
Hafiz is scheduled to fly to Siem Reap on Saturday and tour the Angkor temples. He is scheduled to leave Cambodia on Sunday.
