Migrant Worker Nabbed for Cursing Hun Sen

A 27-year-old migrant worker who posted a video on Facebook that cursed Prime Minister Hun Sen “to death” has been arrested by police in Prey Veng province and sent to the Interior Ministry, the provincial police chief said on Friday.

Sam Pheap, who works in Thailand but was visiting his family in Cambodia, was arrested just after midday on Thursday in Sithor Kandal district’s Prey Toeng commune, said provincial police chief Sreng Chea.

“We just arrested the suspect, then sent him to the Ministry of Interior,” Mr. Chea said.

The October 18 warrant for Mr. Pheap’s arrest came from the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, district police chief Long Bunthoeun said.

“In the warrant order to appear, it said he used Facebook’s page to post the video of him cursing Hun Sen to death,” Mr. Bunthoeun said.

He said he did not know when Mr. Pheap made the video or when it was posted on his Facebook page.

The ministry’s criminal technology department referred calls to department director Chea Pov, who could not be reached.
