Six Arrested for Gang Rape of 14-Year-Old Girl

Three men and three minors were arrested in Pailin City on Friday for the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl, according to police.

The suspects include Yun Eap, 21, Ty Vin, 20, Nhean Uddom, 19, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old, according to Chham Vanthy, chief of the Pailin provincial serious crime bureau.

“After being arrested and questioned at the provincial police station, those suspects confessed to raping the female victim after they saw her alone at night,” Mr. Vanthy said.

“The parents of the girl filed a complaint with police on Friday accusing six people of forcing their daughter to drink alcohol until she was drunk and raping her one by one,” Mr. Vanthy continued.

He said that the victim told police that she had been sitting on a bench in Pailin City when the men approached her and asked her to go to a club.

“The suspects did not bring her to a club,” he said. “They bought wine to drink together…and they carried her on a motorbike about one kilometer and raped her one by one until the victim was unconscious.”

Locals found the victim in the early hours of the morning, unconscious and with her clothes torn, Mr. Vanthy said.

They reported the finding to both the police and the family of the victim, he said.

The victim remained in hospital Sunday, where she is being treated for her injuries, Mr. Vanthy said.
