Prime Minister Hun Sen Heads to China for Expo

Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday led a delegation of Cambodian officials, including Commerce Minister Sun Chanthol, to China for the annual four-day Asean-China Expo in Nanning City, where he planned to meet with senior officials in the Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai governments, according to an adviser to the prime minister.

“On Tuesday, Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen will go to attend the eleventh Asean-China Expo and meet with top [officials] about business and investment,” Sry Thamrong, the prime minister’s personal adviser, told reporters during a briefing at Phnom Penh International Airport before Mr. Hun Sen’s departure.

The expo begins today.

Mr. Thamrong said Mr. Hun Sen plans to give a speech at the event and will also meet with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Thai Foreign Minister Thanasak Patimaprakorn.

Cambodia will have 88 stalls at the expo and on Wednesday, Cambodian officials will give a presentation about investment in the country, Mr. Thamrong said.

He added that Mr. Hun Sen will return to Cambodia Tuesday.
