Police said Wednesday that they arrested 19 men for using and dealing crystal methamphetamine and gambling on Tuesday during a raid on the Happiness Restaurant in Daun Penh district’s Chaktomuk commune.
“Some of the men were smoking crystal methamphetamine or playing on the gambling machine,” said Khieu Samon, the Interior Ministry’s anti-drug police chief who ordered the raid.
According to Mr. Samon, police have been investigating the establishment for about a month on suspicion that people were dealing and using drugs there.
He said police found 34 small plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine and confiscated two illegal gaming machines in the raid.
Two of the men—who are all between the ages of 18 and 35—would be sent to court for suspected drug dealing, he said, while the rest would be sent to a rehabilitation center in Sen Sok district.
“We will find more places with gambling machines to see if they are doing the same thing, and we will not let those place be used for drug smoking or dealing,” he said.
