Oscar Wylee is accused of donating just 3,000 sunglasses to struggling ‘people in need’ – after selling over 300,000 and promising to donate ‘one for every pair bought’

The ACCC has started proceedings in the Federal Court against the company. It said for every pair of glasses sold it would donate one pair to someone in need.

Eyeware company Oscar Wylee has been accused of breaking a promise to donate ‘one pair of glasses for every pair bought’ to people in need.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has alleged in court that the company donated just 3000 pairs of glasses, when it actually sold more than 300,000 pairs in its supposed drive to help struggling people.

The ACCC has launched proceedings against the Australian-owned company in the Federal Court for alleged misleading or deceptive conduct and making false or misleading promises about its charitable donations.
