Main Terminal Nearly Done At Pochentong

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the main terminal of Pochentong Airport, completing the next step in a $100 million renovation deal, an official said.

An inaugural ceremony for the terminal will be held May 24, said Philippe Rose, commercial and development manager for Societe Concessionaire de l’Aeroport, the company handling renovations.

The terminal has a decorative exterior, a new passenger lounge and VIP reception area and several “aerobriges,” which connect departure gates to airliner cabins.

A year ago, the company completed construction of a cargo terminal and warehouse.

SCA, which has been involved at Pochentong since the mid-1990s and obtained partial control and profits of the ground services at the airport from Royal Air Cambodge last year, was forced to scale down its renovation of the airport after factional fighting and the economic crisis in 1997.
