Iwate prefectural police here are urgently seeking Khmer interpreters after arresting six Cambodians believed to be members of a theft ring targeting copper wires from solar power generation facilities.
The investigation has been hampered by a shortage of interpreters, police said.
“Time is limited, and we can’t say we couldn’t conduct the investigation because of a lack of interpreters,” a senior investigator said. “We’re in a tight spot. We’re really struggling.”
