Factory Workers Not Locked in, Volunteered to Stay Overnight

I would like to clarify what happened during an incident that occurred on June 5 at the Kang Da garment factory, “Police Free Garment Workers Locked In at Night by Factory” (June 8).

Due to confusion, the factory was accused of locking the gate to confine workers overnight. This confusion occurred because a father of a worker complained to police, and military police came to the factory.

I would like to clarify that the workers volunteered to work at night. The factory did not force them and workers even thumbprinted statements saying that they voluntarily worked overtime on the night of June 5.

Moreover, the factory has witnesses in this case, including security guards and workers in the packing section.
