Cambodia approves draft law on state of emergency

The Cambodian government has approved a draft law on state of emergency amid the spread of Covid-19, according to a statement released late Tuesday (March 31).

The draft bill was approved on Tuesday during a permanent cabinet members meeting chaired by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the statement said.

A state of emergency can be declared when the people face dangers such as war or foreign invasion, public health concerns caused by pandemics, serious chaos to national security and public order, and severe calamity, it said.
