Australian, 65, Arrested for Having Sex With Minors

A 65-year-old Australian national who is a manager of a large Vietnam-based tour agency was arrested Tuesday for purchasing sex from two teenage girls in Siem Reap City, officials said.

Trevor Lake, of Sydney, was arrested following an investigation by anti-human trafficking police, said Sok Sam, provincial deputy police chief in charge of anti-trafficking.

“We arrested him today in Siem Reap City’s Svay Dangkum district after we investigated him about a week ago,” he said. “We are questioning him, so we cannot talk about details of the case.”

Mr. Lake’s LinkedIn page lists him as the country manager at Trails of Indochina. The company’s website also lists Mr. Lake as its Cambodia country manager.

Anti-pedophile NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE) said in a news release that Mr. Lake was arrested after one of the victims told police that Mr. Lake paid her to have sex with him and filmed and photographed the acts.

“While searching his apartment, police found pornographic images and video footages of T.L. having sex with the girls in a laptop. In total, two laptops, three cameras and two external hard disks were confiscated for further analysis,” the release says.

Khoem Vando, administration chief of APLE, said the two girls were 16 and 17 and that Mr. Lake did not have permission to film them.

“According to the two girls, he had sex with them and took a pornographic video, but they did not agree to it,” he said.
