Lightning killed a 13-year-old girl on Friday in Kompong Speu province’s Oral district, according to Som Puthdara, district military police commander.
Mr Puthdara said Khorn Rai died immediately after the lightning struck her at about 2 pm while she was watching cows in a field about 250 meters from her house in Rasmei Samakki commune.
“We found that her body was burned all over and her clothes were burned,” Mr Puthdara said. Keo Vy, deputy director of the department of information at the National Committee for Disaster Management said 99 people have been killed by lightning this year.
