About Us

The Cambodia Daily has reported the truth in Cambodia for more than 30 years. We exist to hold power to account, give voice to the marginalized, and protect the public’s right to know.

Founded in 1993 by journalist and Holocaust survivor Bernard Krisher after the Paris Peace Accords, our mission has always been simple: every Cambodian deserves access to independent, truthful reporting.

In 2017, government pressure forced us to leave Phnom Penh. Today we operate from Washington, D.C., working with courageous reporters inside Cambodia to deliver the news that matters. With 2.3 million monthly readers and listeners, 90 percent in Khmer, we remain the country’s most trusted independent news source.

Our investigations on corruption, environmental destruction, and human rights abuses are published in Khmer, English, and Chinese because Cambodia’s story matters to the world.

The Cambodia Daily survives because readers believe what we believe: we are not a business, we are a mission. In an age of shrinking freedoms, independent journalism needs your support more than ever.

Stand with us. Support independent journalism. Defend democracy.
