Police arrested a 25-year-old man in Kompong Speu province and a 75-year-old man in Battambang last week, both accused of raping underage relatives, police said Sunday.
Meas Doung Chan, 25, was arrested by Kompong Speu district police Wednesday. He is suspected of raping his niece Tuesday in Prey Keav village, Thoum Ta Or commune, Samroang Tong district, said Chea Vuth, provincial deputy police chief.
The girl, 11, filed a complaint to police with the help of a female neighbor who saw Meas Doung Chan smoking naked in the room with the victim after the rape, Chea Vuth said. The neighbor overheard Meas Doung Chan threaten to kill the victim if she told others of the rape, he said.
In the other case, Battambang provincial police arrested a man Thursday on accusations that he repeatedly raped his three granddaughters, ages 13, 19 and 22. He is suspected to have begun raping the oldest in 1999, when the girls came to live with him and his wife in Plau Meas village, Plau Meas commune, Ratanak Mondol district, said Chea Thoun, deputy provincial police chief. Finally, the 13-year-old filed a complaint with police, Chea Thoun said.
“He admitted he raped them,” Chea Thoun said, adding that the suspect told police “he needed the sperm to make medicine to cure two of them of abdominal pain and cancer.”
