Cambodia jails another dissident for two years

Ny Nak convicted for a Facebook post that questioned a land allocation.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has convicted prominent government critic Ny Nak of incitement to discrimination and defamation and sentenced him to two years in prison for comments he made on social media.

The 44-year-old was detained on Jan. 5 for a Facebook post questioning the government’s allocation of 91 hectares of land in southern Kampot province to Heng Sour, who Nak identified as the current labor minister.

“What achievements has Heng Sour made for the Khmer nation that the government gave him forest land as his personal property? RIP Khmer forests,” Ny Nak wrote.
