Four Cambodian activists have been arrested after they were accused by former prime minister Hun Sen of “twisting” facts in a video that questioned a development zone bordering Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV).
Police confirmed Srun Srorn, Pheung Sophea, Ban Sith and Chak Ban Mony were arrested in the northwest provincial city of Siem Reap on July 23 and sent to the capital Phnom Penh for questioning.
The four are also known for conducting workshops about democracy and Cambodia’s 1991 Paris Peace Agreement, which heralded United Nations peacekeepers and elections held two years later and would eventually help end a civil war in 1998.
