Australian daily clarifies story that offended Hun Sen’s nephew

Article implying Cambodian businessman Hun To having links to cybercrime is removed after legal dispute.

The Australian newspaper has “resolved on a confidential basis” a legal dispute with Cambodian businessman Hun To and removed a story that implied that he was involved in criminal networks that included human trafficking, cyberbullying, and drug trafficking.

Removal of the story from The Australian’s website followed litigation in the Federal Court of Australia initiated by Hun To who is based in Australia and is the nephew of former prime minister Hun Sen and is cousin of the current leader Hun Manet.

“On August 5, 2022, The Australian published an article that some readers may have understood to make serious allegations about Hun To and his business dealings both in Australia and Asia.
