Six Cambodian women trafficked to China to become brides and seven Cambodian victims of labor exploitation in Saudi Arabia will be repatriated by the end of the month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday.
The six women in China will return to Cambodia on Wednesday and the seven workers in Saudi Arabia, who have received assistance from the Thai Embassy there, will return later this month, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement released Monday.
Five of the women in China are originally from Kompong Cham province and the sixth is from Kandal province.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs…appeals to all Cambodian citizens to pay serious attention and not fall into the tricks of ringleaders taking our Cambodian daughters to work or marry Chinese men in China with the promise of wealth and other things,” the statement says.
