Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy Cham Prasidh signed an agreement with Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry on Monday to exchange information in the energy sector on conservation, electricity regulation and renewable sources, according to statement from the Singaporean ministry.
The memorandum of understanding—signed by former commerce minister Mr. Prasidh and S. Iswaran, Singapore’s second minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry—said that the two countries agreed to focus on areas “such as energy efficiency and conservation, regulation of electricity, renewable energy and liquefied natural gas.”
“The first project under the Singapore-Cambodia MoU will involve the training of 60 Cambodian energy officials in electrical safety systems, frameworks and regulations,” the ministry said in the statement, adding that standards on electrical wiring and building safety for Cambodia will also be developed.
