Two of the three members of a UN team investigating Khmer Rouge atrocities met with Second Prime Minister Hun Sen on Sunday evening.
While not disclosing details of the meeting, Hun Sen adviser Om Yentieng said Hun Sen was receptive to the two investigators—Sir Ninian Stephen, a former Australian governor-general, and Stephen Ratner, a US scholar on war crimes.
“Hun Sen is a person who actively supports the investigation,” Om Yentieng said.
Rajsoomer Lallah, former chief justice of Mauritius, the last of the three UN investigators, arrived Monday morning.
The UN team is weighing evidence to assess the feasibility of an international tribunal to try Khmer Rouge leaders for crimes against humanity.
The team is to hold a press conference today.
