Public officials from throughout Cambodia met at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Friday as the nation began trying to figure out the extent of road and bridge damage due to flooding.
The tally is far from complete, and it’s impossible to put a dollar figure on what will be needed for repairs. The following is a partial list of problem spots province-by-province, according to provincial officials:
• kandal -National Route 1 at km 48 and between km 53-106; Provincial Route 21.
• PREY VENG – National Route 11 at seven different spots between km 69-97, including three bridges.
• TAKEO – National Route 2 between km 100-116 and km 120-125; also bridge damage to Provincial Route 111 and road damage to Provincial Route176.
• KOMPONG THOM – National Route 6 between kms 112-128, 183-185, 217-218 and 221-230; bridge at San Tok damaged; Provincial Route 64 to Siem Reap province border in bad shape.
• KOMPONG CHHNANG – National Route 5 at kms 90, 91, 105, 106, 107, 109 and 111.
• RATANAKKIRI – National Route 78A cut off, plus bridge damage; National Route 76A and Provincial Route 303 damaged.
• BANTEAY MEANCHEY – National Route 5 at kms 362, 368 and 391; National Route 6 at km 368.
• BATTAMBANG – National Route 5 at km 285 damaged in three places.
• PURSAT – National Route 5 near Phnom Kravanh and near Stung Pursat River.
• KRATIE – Road to Sandan district in Kompong Thom in bad shape; bridge damage on Route 306.
• STUNG TRENG – National Route 7 cut off; Route 378 from Ou Pong Man to Laos border damaged.
• KOMPONG CHAM – National Route 6 between Tonle Bit and Tbong Khmom and in Prey Chhor and Koh Sotin districts. Provincial Route 222 in Chamkar Leu district.
• ODDAR MEANCHEY – Route 68 damaged all the way to Thai border. Ou Chrou and numerous other bridges, damaged.
• KAMPOT – National Route 3 in four places between km 22-24. Provincial Route 32 to Bokor Mountain. Angkor Chey district has minor damage.
