Asos ‘first’ online brand to support collective bargaining in Cambodia

Asos, the global online fashion retailer, has become the ‘first’ e-commerce company to sign a legally binding agreement supporting collective bargaining rights for garment workers in Cambodia.

The unprecedented deal was signed between Asos and IndustriALL Global Union, with support from the ACT (Action, Collaboration, Transformation) initiative. It has been described as paving the way for the garment sector’s “first-ever brand-supported collective bargaining agreement” in the garment and footwear industry.

The agreement is part of ASOS‘ Fashion with Integrity programme, demonstrating the company’s commitment to protecting human rights and ethical labour practices throughout its supply chain.

“Having been involved in the ACT process for a number of years, we’re incredibly proud to be one of the first brands to sign a legally binding Agreement with IndustriALL Global Union,” said Adil Rehman, Asos’ head of Human Rights. “It shows what can be achieved when brands, unions and employers collaborate to drive sustainable, long-term change.”
