Two Arrested In Koh Kong

koh kong town – Two Burmese nationals were arrested Jan 1 in Koh Kong province on suspicion of murdering a Cambodian man at a logging company, provincial police said Thursday.

Srey Chek, Koh Kong deputy judicial police chief, said Burmese nationals Ko Thang, 33, and Man Tay, 25, were arrested after the death of Sao Linh, 38, who was chopped in the neck with an ax in a dispute at the logging company in Trapeang Roung commune, Koh Kong district. The three worked together and had been drinking before the killing, police said.

The Burmese pair was in Cambodia illegally, Srey Chek said. “They stayed and worked without documents for a logging concession company. They will be charged for both the [killing] and illegally entering Cambodia.”

A spokesman for the Burmese embassy said Monday that to his knowledge the embassy had not been informed of the arrests.

Chief of Immigration Police Prok Sareoun said Monday he also was unaware of the arrests.
