The joint land, air and river military maneuvers launched around the CNRP headquarters last Wednesday and the blocking of roads today to prevent a few CNRP members of parliament from petitioning foreign embassies show just how irresponsible and irrelevant the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has become.

Peace and stability are key to development and foreign investment. Instead of building sustainable peace and stability, the RGC casts the image of worsening social unrest and insecurity, warning the world that it is ready to wage war against its own people to protect the wealth and power of a happy few—whatever the cost for the whole Cambodian nation. Bravo!
