For those facing deportation, know your rights

It’s the right of every American citizen – and noncitizen — to peacefully protest against any government policy, especially those they believe unjustly target certain ethnic groups.

As such, those Asian American activists who rallied outside the Boston federal immigration courthouse Monday for a halt to the deportations of Cambodians lawfully exercised that right.

In situations like this, emotions can overwhelm facts. That’s understandable, considering the stakes involved. We can’t imagine a more traumatic process than enforcing the separation of families.
