Two days after the Apsara Authority learned its Facebook pages had been compromised, with one hacked account posting suggestive rumors about Prime Minister Hun Sen’s family, the agency was last night still locked out of its accounts, a spokesman said.
“We are trying hard to bring them back under our control, but we haven’t had any results yet,” said Long Kosal, a spokesman for the authority, which oversees Angkor Archaeological Park.
One of the hacked pages still shows a post with more than 400 screenshots of previously leaked conversations, allegedly between Thy Sovantha, a social media activist, and Mr. Hun Sen.
Former opposition leader Sam Rainsy was sued by Mr. Hun Sen and Ms. Sovantha for saying those conversations showed the premier offering the activist $1 million to lead protests against the CNRP.
Mr. Kosal said the authority had not decided whether it would create new pages, and he did not know if the web team had contacted Facebook for help.
“I don’t know what they are doing right now because it is part of their job.”
