Cambodia warns against election boycott calls (video)

As Cambodia’s general election looms next month, the country’s election authority is warning it will impose fines on anyone calling to boycott the vote.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the National Election Committee said that people who prevent eligible voters from voting, undermine trust or disrupt the electoral process could face fines of up to about 4,800 dollars.

The move comes after the main opposition force, the Candlelight Party, was excluded from the upcoming election. The committee said the party was disqualified last month for failing to submit the necessary documents.
