Memories of Russia may still be fresh and other confederations may be looking towards continental competitions but not Asia.
On Wednesday morning in Kuala Lumpur, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held a draw for the first round of qualification round that features 12 of the region’s weakest teams.
The two-legged ties will take place on June 6 and 11 and the six survivors will head to the second round to join the rest of the AFC, including Australia, in September.
