Australia’s under-23 team could hardly have got off to a better start in their qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, thumping Cambodia 6-0 in their opening game in Phnom Penh in the early hours of Saturday morning.
It wasn’t quite the same scoreline as that achieved by South Korea, who put eight past Chinese Taipei in their opener, but it will provide a useful morale boost for a team that has had limited time together to prepare.
