League of Ireland winner Paddy Barrett surviving strict quarantine and loneliness in Cambodia

“Obviously you’re quarantining for a good reason, but it was the toughest time of my life because I was going through some personal problems as well."

Paddy Barrett’s arrival in Cambodia reads like something from a movie script and he is still trying to get his head around the unfolding plot.

For starters he had to surrender his passport in the airport before undergoing Covid testing after which he was whisked out of the building through a side entrance.

Government agents then brought him to a hotel – of their choosing – where he had to satisfy them that he had $2,000 handy to foot the bill.
