Iran Prosecutor Defies FIFA, Says Women Should Not Enter Stadiums

The Islamic Republic Prosecutor-General has once again lambasted the International Football Federation for pressuring Iran to allow women freely enter stadiums and watch men’s soccer games.

“FIFA’s pressure is another calculated plot by the enemies,” the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)-run, Tasnim news agency cited the mid-ranking cleric, Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, saying on Saturday, September 28.

Enraged by the pressure, Montazeri has argued that FIFA has no legal authority to dictate the Islamic Republic how to manage its sports arenas.
