UN releases correspondence with Cambodia about missing Thai activist

The United Nations on Monday renewed a push for answers in the case of missing Thai political activist Wanchalearm Satsaksit, who was abducted in Cambodia on June 4.

The new efforts included the release of UN correspondence with Cambodian authorities, who reluctantly agreed to investigate the 37-year-old’s disappearance following international outrage.

In a letter from July 15, UN experts expressed concern at the lack of progress in the probe and pointed to Cambodia’s obligation to properly investigate the alleged abduction and enforced disappearance under international human rights law.
