A 21-year-old man suspected of killing his girlfriend while they had sex was arrested by police on Saturday in Siem Reap City, where the couple met on Friday for the first time after a yearlong long-distance relationship, police said.
Mann Kim Huon, a welder in Phnom Penh, made an appointment with his 20-year-old girlfriend, Louy Lay Him, who worked at a restaurant in Siem Reap, to meet in person for the first time at the Angkor Tep Guesthouse in Siem Reap, according to city police chief Tith Narong, who said the couple had met and maintained a relationship over the telephone.
“The suspect confessed that at 8:30 p.m. Friday night he and [his] girlfriend had sex with each other, but his girlfriend was injured in her genitals and lost a lot of blood,” Mr. Narong said.
“[Mr. Kim Huon] decided to bring his girlfriend to the provincial hospital but she passed away before arriving at the hospital,” he added.
Mr. Kim Huon was arrested after police received a complaint from Louy Lay Him’s parents, he said, adding that Mr. Kim Huon was being held at the provincial police station on Sunday night for further questioning.
