Prime Minister Hun Sen met Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday during the Vietnamese leader’s one-day trip to Phnom Penh.
Expanding cooperation between Hanoi and Phnom Penh topped the agenda of talks between the two leaders, particularly in the areas of husked rice, joint mining operations in border areas, rubber plantations, connecting electricity networks, roads and even an overlapping golf course, Information Minister Khieu Kanharith said.
The 18-hole course will have nine holes in Vietnamese territory and nine in Cambodia, Khieu Kanharith said.
The two prime ministers also agreed to establish more markets along their mutual frontier and open more border crossings, he said.
Hun Sen also thanked the Vietnamese people for sending their “volunteer army” to liberate Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge in December 1978. Vietnamese troops eventually withdrew from Cambodia a decade later.
