A novel based on the life of acid attack victim Tat Marina is scheduled to go on sale in Phnom Penh today.
“The Fate of Marina” by author Kong Bun Chhoeun follows closely the story of the karaoke actress who was disfigured last December during an incident in the wife of her lover Svay Sitha, undersecretary of state for Council of Ministers, allegedly ordered acid thrown on her.
There have still been no arrests in connection with the attack, despite numerous witness statements.
Tat Marina continues her recovery near the US city of Boston. Kong Bun Chhoeun told the newspaper Rasmei Kampuchea (Light of Cambodia) that he thinks most of the book buyers will be women who have been cheated on by their lovers.
He also said he wrote the book in hopes it will reduce violence in Cambodian society.
