Two men were shot dead in Pursat province’s Phnom Kravanh district on Monday by a local villager, who was apparently angry that one of them allegedly had an affair with his wife, local police said yesterday.
Samraong commune police chief Nuo Heng said Ut Sreng, 28, had fired an AK-47 assault rifle at Ngov Soeurn, 31, who died immediately, while the second victim Kin Nay, 39, was seriously injured and later died at Pursat Provincial Referral Hospital. The attacker had found the two victims in a nearby house in his village in Samraong commune, he said, adding that both victims lived in Kampot province and had visited Pursat province to carry out timber logging work.
He said Mr. Sreng had sought to kill Mr. Nay-who is his cousin-after his wife told him she had slept with Mr. Nay when he came over for dinner Monday night. “The reason for the killing was because the suspect was jealous,” Mr. Heng said. “The suspect…fled away after the incident. We are investigating and searching him for arrest,” he added.
