Two Men Arrested for Raping 15-Year-Old Girl in Rice Field

Police arrested two men in Kep City’s O’Krasar commune on Saturday night after catching them in the act of raping a 15-year-old girl, city police chief Kol Sinath said Sunday.

Mr. Sinath said that Nget Rann and his friend Chhuon Dara, both 22, raped the teenage girl after getting her drunk on a beach.

“Yesterday afternoon, both suspects came to visit a beach in Kep City with the victim and they forced the victim to drink wine until she was drunk,” he said, explaining that the men knew the girl from their village in Kep province’s Damnak Chang’aur district.

“After the victim became drunk, at about 7 p.m., both suspects promised to bring her back home,” he said.

They drove her on a motorbike in the direction of her home, then pulled over on National Road 33 and dragged her into a rice field, Mr. Sinath said.

“When they were halfway home, the suspects parked the motorbike and grabbed her and raped her in the rice field,” he said.

But two O’Krasar commune police officers who had been patrolling the road saw movement in the field at about 7:30 p.m., Mr. Sinath said. They arrested the men and sent the girl—who was naked and unconscious—to the hospital.

“We found the victim’s underwear nearby and five condoms,” Mr. Sinath said.

He added that Mr. Rann, who had returned from working in Thailand just before the Khmer New Year holiday, and Mr. Dara, who was employed at a local garment factory, both admitted to raping the girl, and were expected to be sent to court Monday to face charges of raping a minor.
