Two Chinese men Rob and Murder Countryman in Phnom Penh

Police arrested two Chinese nationals in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district Tuesday evening for allegedly stabbing to death another Chinese man, they knew to be carrying a large sum of money, said Meach Serey, Prek Liep commune police chief.

Ker Yan Kong, 32, and Vong Vang Pring, 23, were arrested on National Road 6a shortly after they allegedly murdered 31-year-old Cheang Ya Dong, and robbed him of $3,900 in cash.

“We found $2,365 and 10,000 yuan [$1,569] with the suspects upon their arrest,” Mr Serey said, adding that witnesses had seen the victim at a restaurant with the suspects earlier that night.

“When the suspects killed the victim, they brought him to a dark place…and stabbed him with a knife,” he said, adding that local residents alerted the authorities immediately after the attack.
