TVK’s Pursat Bureau Chief Robbed, Killed

The Pursat provincial bureau chief for state television network TVK was robbed and killed late Wednesday night in Sampov Meas district, police said.

Chav Kim Tit’s body was discovered by staff members of the Happy Ly Ly guesthouse short-

ly after 10 pm in Phteah Prey

commune, district police chief

Len Song said by telephone Thursday.

He said Chav Kim Tit, a 52-year-old widower, went to the guesthouse to sleep with a woman, but at about 10 pm two men entered his room. Shortly thereafter, the two men left with the woman and the three drove away on a motorcycle.

Staff members opened the door to Chav Kim Tit’s room and discovered that he had been savagely killed.

Police said Chav Kim Tit was strangled with a belt, stabbed twice in the temple with a bayonet and had his collarbone broken with an ax.

“The offenders killed him too brutally,” Len Song said.

Sy Savin, Pursat provincial deputy bureau chief for serious crime, said the two men are believed to have been working in tandem with the woman and that they had rented the room next to Chav Kim Tit’s ahead of time. Police suspect the woman arranged the setup to rob and kill Chav Kim Tit.

The victim was robbed of a mobile phone, a diamond ring and a gold necklace, as well as the money in his pockets.

Police said they are currently investigating and have not yet identified the three suspects, but they believe the woman may have worked at a local karaoke parlor.
