Toxic rice wine kills 12 people in Cambodia

A dozen people have died in Cambodia after drinking tainted rice wine, the country’s Ministry of Health had announced.

Health authorities said 12 people died from consuming the locally-produced alcohol, and at least five more people had been hospitalised.

Consumption of the wine was linked to a funeral earlier in May in the province of Kandal, which borders the capital Phnom Penh, reported local media.
