Three more prisoners at Tbong Khmum province’s Correctional Center 3 have been arrested in relation to 12 grams of methamphetamine found in the possession of prisoners there over the weekend, police said.
Provincial prosecutor Hiek Sopheak said the three were taken into police custody for questioning after being inculpated by the three who were initially arrested on Saturday for possession of the drugs.
“We arrested one more prisoner and today two more prisoners were arrested for involvement with drug trafficking inside the prison cells,” Mr. Sopheak said.
“Our investigation is seeking the person who supplied the drugs to them inside the CC3 prison,” he said, declining to give more details.
“Please wait for our work to finish, and I will reveal this to the public.” Chea Choun, the provincial anti-drug police chief, said the six prisoners were all being kept at the provincial police office for questioning about how the drugs got into the prison.
