Three Men Arrested for Gang Rape of 15-Year-Old

Three suspects in the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl were arrested in Svay Rieng province on Thursday morning while another remains on the run, according to police.

Four men followed the girl home early on Thursday morning to a rented house in Bavet City where she lived alone, said Keo Sotha, the director of the provincial police’s department of serious crimes.

When the victim, an employee of a nearby casino, arrived home at about 5:10 a.m., the men forced their way inside and raped her in the house, he said.

“Two raped her and the other two held her legs and hands,” Mr. Sotha said.

After the two had taken turns raping her, the victim struggled out of their grasp, fled her house and began to scream, waking up her neighbors, who reported the incident to the police, he said.

The men fled before the police arrived, but officers followed them and apprehended three.

A National Police report identified the four suspects as Seav Dara, 20, Sok Pha, 19, Van Vandara, 19, and Nhuon Chantha, 20.

Mr. Dara and Mr. Pha admitted to raping the girl during police questioning, Mr. Sotha said, while Mr. Vandara admitted to holding her down.

The three were being held at the provincial police headquarters, Mr. Sotha said, and would be sent to the provincial court today.

Mr. Sotha said he was not aware of the victim’s present condition.
