Thai navy vessels are searching for a group of Cambodian pirates believed to have robbed a Thai trawler near Koh Kong this week, the Bangkok Post reported.
The pirates, armed with AK-47 assault rifles, fired shots at the Thai vessel Wednesday about 10 km off the Thai village of Ban Hat Let. The trawler was carrying goods worth about $275,000.
A larger boat picked the pirates up from their speedboat, the Post reported. The Thai navy found the speedboat—and what apparently was the body of one of the pirates—about 15 km offshore.
