Teenager Admits Raping Two Young Girls, Police Say

A teenage boy accused of raping two young girls on numerous occasions in Stung Treng province on Thursday confessed to the attacks, according to police, who are awaiting the examination results of several other alleged victims.

Duong Sivutha, chief of the provincial police’s serious crimes bureau, said the suspect—who was arrested Wednesday in Thala Barivat district after the parents of alleged victims filed complaints earlier that day—admitted to the crimes under questioning at the provincial police station.

Mr. Sivutha said the suspect, who according to commune documents is 17 years old although his mother initially claimed he was 14, told police he had raped a 9-year-old four times and an 11-year-old three times since December at various locations in Kaing Cham commune, including his home.

“The suspect claimed he raped the girls because he could not control his feelings,” said Mr. Sivutha, adding that he was waiting to see the results of examinations of other young girls who went to the provincial referral hospital Thursday after coming forward to say that the suspect also attacked them.

Provincial court prosecutor Pen Sarath said the boy had yet to be charged and would continue being questioned Thursday.
