A Takeo province man accused of raping three girls younger than 10 years old was arrested Wednesday by provincial police, who are also searching for a suspect in an unrelated rape.
Soun Thon, deputy chief of provincial police, said Im Phy, 19, was arrested in Otdom Sorya commune, Tram Kak district.
He is accused of raping a 9-year-old girl four times, most recently last Sunday, Soun Thon said.
He said Im Phy told police he had raped two other girls—a 9-year-old and an 8-year-old—in 1999.
Police said the suspect is due in Takeo court today. Police are also investigating the alleged rape of a 13-year-old in Bati district, Soun Thon said.
They have a suspect in that case, but have made no arrest, he said.
