Tada Island Natural Resort

For Khmer New Year in April, my family and I wanted to do something different, so we headed to a new tourist spot in Kampot province, about 150 km south of Phnom Penh.

A dirt road at the foot of a mountain leads you to the Tada Island Natural Resort. There’s an entrance fee—$1 for Cambodians and $3 for foreigners.

The attractions are reached by 200 steps leading up the mountain, which is quite steep. Seeing the climb, my wife decided to stay at the bottom. I found it tiring, but at least there’s a handrail to help you walk up.

It’s worth the effort when you get to the top and see a waterfall and natural pool. You can swim in the cool water or take a refreshing shower under the waterfall. My three children loved it. For lunch, head back down and choose something from one of about 30 food stalls. Relax and take in the beautiful landscape.

Now is a good time to visit as the rainy season means the waterfall will be in full flow.
