State Department Recognizes Foreign Service Spouse in Cambodia

The State Department announced the winners of a volunteerism award last weekend, with Jennifer Yan, whose partner worked at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, winning recognition for her work with local charities in Cambodia.

Recipients of the Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad (SOSA), were picked by the Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW), which is a non-governmental organization that advocates for family members of foreign service members.

Jennifer Yan moved to the city with her husband in 2016, when he worked at the U.S. embassy in Phnom Penh. The AAFSW said Jennifer Yan had donated her time and material support for charities such as Hope for Cambodia Children.
